I believe that this is something that everyone should be hearing from the important people in their lives. But even more importantly, you should be hearing and saying this statement to yourselves as a constant reminder that you are valuable, matter, and are much needed in this world.
The phrase "I believe in you" is truly very validating indeed. And it is our human nature that does long to be validated by others. There is nothing wrong with this, as long as we're also able to realize that true validation comes from within. Whenever we cannot find this much-needed sense of value from within, we suffer. Part of that is because our sense of self is a very basic need in all of us. But also because if we're looking for this from others, we will eventually find it lacking. No one is always available to renew this sense in us other than ourselves. We all live our lives to our own best capacity, but we are human, so that means we will never be perfect and will eventually let others and ourselves down. We cannot always expect others to be inclined to foster our sense of worth and value. They may not be capable or able to do so when we need it most.
So it is in our best interests to learn to love ourselves deeply, flaws and all. So that we can work on feeling complete, healed, and whole within ourselves. It is then that we can respect, love, and appreciate when others validate us but aren't always in desperate need of hearing it and feeling it from others. The more expectations of this and anything really, we place in the hands of others, the more we're setting ourselves up for future pain and suffering when those aren't met as we desire. So learn to embrace this belief deeply in yourself.
